MY THOUGHTS ON TIGER WOODS…..

Posted by dontdoubtme on August 4, 2009

I had the awesome opportunity today to visit the TIGER WOODS LEARNING CENTER in Anaheim and it left me speechless!

Tiger with his father Earltiger 1

tiger 2

Tiger Woods is the most well-known person and the wealthiest athlete in the world today….he is on his way of becoming the best golfer of all time….the first ever BILLIONAIRE athlete…the list goes on and on….he is truly an amazing athlete…….however, today I found out what kind of person this guy truly is………

quote from his website……

“Youth are encouraged to explore their interests and career aspirations in an inspiring and supportive environment at the Tiger Woods Learning Center. Achieving goals and reaching dreams is the focus of our nationwide character development program. The Foundation is giving youth the skills to lay their own groundwork for the future.”

The Tiger Woods Foundation has helped more than 10 MILLION children all across the US…..truly amazing!

Tiger Woods is an amazing person…and this is why…..?

Instead of talking or showing off his 15 exotic cars…….his 20 bedroom mansion…..his priceless “bling” …..

he creates this unbeliavable foundation and center to help children all across the US….to change childrens’ lives for the better…forever…..

did he really have to do this???? NO…he did not have to…..! he could have chosen to live a life like many of the super star athletes that we read or hear about today……BUT INSTEAD, he chose to “GIVE BACK TO HIS COMMUNITY” and improve the lives of millions….

before today…I respected Tiger for his efforts and skills on the golf course….today and forever…I respect and admire him for his actions away from the golf course…..

HOW WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED IN YOUR COMMUNITY?

…the trainer who drives a nice car……?

….. the trainer who owns a huge house…..?

….. the trainer who owns a huge gym?

…..the trainer who makes so much money?

OR

….. the trainer who “gives back to his/her community”?

…the trainer who inspires and educates the masses (even the ones who cannot afford his/her services)?

…..the trainer who truly cares and loves his/her community??

Like everything else in life….you choose your path…..!!!

check out this awesome video…..

go out there and make a difference in your community…!

ARE YOU MEETING OR HANGING OUT WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE??

Posted by dontdoubtme on July 24, 2009

Who do I have lunches with and play golf with on a weekly basis?? …..Medical doctors…Executive Directors…..School board members….Professors….CFO of hospitals….very well respected business owners in the community…..

DR HOWARD

most of these individuals are also clients of the studio….but in order to talk business…get away from the studio and buy them some lunch or offer them to play golf with you…..

YOU TOO CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!

This is how…..

Here are some tips on how to “HANG OUT”…”HAVE LUNCH” …”PLAY GOLF” with some of the most respected and well known individuals in your community

First, here is a short list of people you want to know and have some kind of affiliation with

-         Successful business owners

-         Medical doctors

-         Attorneys

-         City Council members

-         School board members

-         Executive Director of non profit foundations or their board of director members

-         Community Advocates

-         College professors

-         Dean of  colleges

-         Community relations directors (they do most of the planning for the biggest events)

ACFF2

ACFF

The following 5 tips will put you in position to meet and greet individuals that will improve your fitness business to its highest level…..remember when you do meet them…..shake their hand and be the best FITNESS PROFESSIONAL you can be

  1. Have a fundraiser event in your community

-         Food drive

-         Toys for Tots

-         Raise money for your favorite charity….whatever it is….be passionate about it!!

2. List the 5 most important fundraising events in your community and donate 10 (1/2 hr) PT sessions for their silent auction

-         How do you think I was able to meet the most popular executive director in
Whittier?

-         Create a nice, professional gift certificate for them…you need to contact the planning committee director

 3. Have an event party for your clients to launch a new product (DVD’s, book, business venture, Christmas party, etc) and send an invitation to those well respected individuals

PARTY

 4. Ask your clients if they know any of those individuals I listed above

-         If they do, get an email address and send them an intro email letting them know what you do for your community and how you know their friend.

-          At the end of the day….it’s really who you know that will help you and your fitness business!

 5. Be very proactive in your community

-         Instead of working out for 3 hours a day ….5 days a week…use some of that time to work on your business.  Attend community event functions…..go and volunteer….because the less you go out there…the less money you will have in your bank account

GO OUT THERE AND MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

5 Quick and Effective tips on how to make your fitness studio stand-out from the rest…

Posted by dontdoubtme on July 22, 2009

Some of these tips will seem very odd to some of you who are already awesome fitness professionals and respect and care for our industry….but believe me….when I visit gyms and fitness studios….there are STILL many people out there who are not taking our industry too seriously…..and I take that to heart and that is why I am here to inspire and educate fitness professionals on how to take our industry to the highest level possible.

Remember, small details matter….and at the end of the day…..the small details will determine how successful and profitable your business will become

My fitness studio is the most recognized, respected and profitable in the whole city…..and below are just some of the reasons why…..

DSC00224

  1. Cleanliness – when new or potential clients come in your studio, what do they smell?  Sweat….smelly towels……?  Your studio needs to smell clean and fresh. Put wall plugs and make sure you wipe down equipments at least 2-3x a day with antibacterial wipes.  Nothing is worse than when you walk into a fitness studio and the place smells dirty and the place looks like s***!

2. Put some awesome motivational words and posters on each wall of your fitness studio

3. On each corner, you should have different themes….. one corner should highlight your community services…..one should be your client testimonial with pictures…..etc….make sure you make the pictures inviting and attention grabbing…

DSC01289

DSC01292

  1. 4. You and your staff need to be  fitness professionals and NOT just any trainers…..dress as if this is a career for you and not just a part time job (even if it is one)

What are some of the characteristics of a fitness professional?

-  Be presentable….have clean t-shirts and work attire……don’t wear your hat backwards….

-  Be funny…..engaging….courteous….speak well….don’t curse….

5. Provide the best service possible for your clients…make their experience with you and your studio unforgettable.  Make each client feel special when they walk in and walk out of your studio…. Call them by their first name….say goodbye to them and wish them a wonderful and productive day

Dr. Andy Howard – Executive Director of a very successful foundation …..

We shot 10 under par (scramble format) it was a great time and great weather!!

golf tourney 1

NOW….for you Fit Pros….. who did I meet at the event and who was I riding the cart with……?

I was riding with my teammate Dr Howard whose foundation is a huge supporter and sponsor of the Excellence Through Exercise Foundation… we were chatting about future projects together and our upcoming gala event which they will sponsor AGAIN!!!

Who did I meet at this event…?

-         Head golf coach at a local high school

-         Head football coach…..

-         Local business owners…

-         Endless number of great people who now knows about my fitness studio….golf fitness program and foundation…..!!

THIS IS AN AWESOME WAY TO SPEND 6 HOURS OF YOUR TIME…..!! dont_count_the_days_make_the_days_count_poster-p228892961243292060t5ta_400

Go out there and participate at charity golf tournaments….donate PT sessions for silent auction prices….donate a free one month membership at your studio or gym…..free PT consulting…..free one month online fitness program…..whatever you can donate…..MAKE SURE YOU DONATE!

Why participate at a charity golf tournament…or at any charity events?

  1. You will meet some awesome people who truly cares about their community
  2. The people that you meet will become future clients or supporters of your organization
  3. You will build future business relationships with some individuals
  4. You will establish your name and business with a new group of people
  5. You will solidify your relationship with current business partners and supporters

I’m not against hanging out with buddies playing golf….but if I’m going to spend 6 hours of my time playing golf….it needs to be with people who will help me grow my business and foundation……

GO OUT THERE AND USE YOUR TIME WISELY!!!

DONATE YOUR “TIME” NOT YOUR MONEY!!!

Posted by dontdoubtme on July 16, 2009

Here are 3 places you need to donate your time to…..a few hours a month will give you tons of PT clients…..and more importantly…..establish you as a community fitness leader!

1. Hospital community functions –

if they have health fairs for the community which they always do….make sure you volunteer your time at the event.  Don’t always expect that you will get a booth to promote your business ….. just make sure you are there to support the hospital and your community.

Bring your business cards and wear something promoting your business……

if you are a volunteer…just be professional and helpful

2. Boys & Girls Club

check their community events and go there and volunteer your time!  All the top execs on each community are members of the board of directors of the Boys & Girls Club…….if you go to their events….you will meet some of the most influential and well known community leaders….bring your cards just in case…..

3. Women’s Group

Do some research online and look for popular women’s group in your community… why a women’s group? 70% of personal training clients are women….you do the math……

Contact their community relations director or event director and offer to do a free “Exercise and Women’s Health” Seminar

TOP 5 TIPS ON HOW TO GET A CREDIBLE ORGANIZATION TO DONATE TO YOUR MISSION AND VISION

Posted by dontdoubtme on July 16, 2009

TIP #1 – Build credibility in your community

- companies do their own research about other companies….make sure you include all of your community services and programs and how it has benefited the community on your website

- also, tell your clients what you are doing for your community via newsletters…emails…handouts….etc why? because at the end of the day….it never hurts to know people

TIP #2 – Show the organization how it will benefit them as well

Why should an orgnization donate money or their services to you? How will it benefit them? Make sure you include the answers to these questions when sending a letter or request to them

TIP #3 – Try to get just “ONE” reputable organization to donate to you

When theLakers Youth Foundation donated money to my foundation…i knew it was just the beginning….and i was right…..so many other reputable and awesome organizations have donated to us ….why? because if the LAKERS YOUTH FOUNDATION supports us…why wouldnt they?!?!

TIP #4 – Send their community relations director a nice, professional packet

when you get a solicitation in the mail from companies or charities, which ones do you open and which ones do you just throw away?….. when sending a request to a company….keep that in mind…

your company or “CAUSE” needs to be up to par with the companies you are sending letters to…for example….if a companies mission is to help the American Cancer Society…I would not send them a letter because our foundation is geared towards children’s fitness and health….know what i mean?

make sure you do your own research before sending your letters out…

TIP # 5 – DON’T STOP TIL YOU GET IT…!

- remember the movie “Shawshank Redemption”…..when the guy was sending a letter to the state to get funding for their library…… at the end …the state sent a huge check to rebuild their library as well as a bunch of books and music …moral of the story…keep trying….

TOP 3 TIPS ON HOW TO “GET IN” THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY

Posted by dontdoubtme on July 15, 2009

You want MD’ds and RD’s referring you their patients???? here are some awesome tips

TIP #1  Ask all of your clients who their doctor is ….and to schedule an appoitment

- Once you find out, ask your client when their next scheduled appoitment is….if they don’t have one….you need to tell them to get their annual or bi-annual apppointment ASAP….this is a great opportunity for you to have a semi-direct contact with  a doctor….once an appointment is scheduled…create a marketing media kit for the dr…..include the following

- resume/bio

-services you offer

- client testimonials

- community projects and services you have done

- proof of liability of insurance…release forms and health & medical questionnaires

Place it in a professional folder with professional paper……

And then have your client give the folder to their doctor!!! and remind you client to “talk you up” …assuming you have provided your client awesome service and results!!?!?!?!?

TIP #2 … write fitness/exercise articles for your local newspaper….local magazines and medical facility newsletters

- this is one of the best ways to build your credibility with the medical community……i will tell you one thing….a doctor will not refer you patients if they do not know and trust you…..so start by building their trust and doing something great for your community as well…..

- another way is to provide and or offer FREE educational lectures and seminars for your local YMCA….Boy’s & Girl’s Club…..medical facility educational department….contact the director of community services or relations

TIP #3 ….. learn how to play golf or provide a golf fitness program

- where do doctors and top execs hang out when they are not at work???? ……GOLF COURSE!!!! enough said!

call me at 714-306-9002 if you have any questions…or need a couple more tips ……
